Last but not least, I still recommend you update the firmware on this switch- 5.1 is dangerously old. Lastly, you add these new zones to the active configuration using "cfgadd DCConfig, zonename", then remove the old zones you see from the cfgshow, and then run cfgenable DCConfig to make the new settings effective. You'd create a zone for each vmware port to each storage port, each zone would have just a single pair (assuming you have more than one port for the storage). You'd create a zone containing the alias for the vmware port and the storage port. You should see a line with your server and another with your storage.įrom there, I'd create an alias for each wwn, so vmware_port1 would contain the wwn you see logging in on port 7. It should be a table of all the ports on the switch, and what the wwns for the devices plugged into each switch are. To find the wwns to zone, look at the output of a switchshow. The devices in the zone can only access other devices connected to the fabric in the same zone.
That way if you ever move the cable for some reason, you don't need to go through this exercise again. 1 Prevent host nodes from accessing unauthorized storage. It's best to zone the world wide name of the server rather than the port it's in.
